Reborn Affiliate Marketing

Concern has been growing among the affiliate marketing community due to those members who have been banned by Google from using Adwords. Industries have cut way back on the number of advertisers as a result of this ban. Others think Google is going tobe banning all affiliate marketers from using this servivce. Why the concern? Is this the death of affiliate marketing on Google?

It is true some advertisers have been banned for life, but consideration must figure into the reasoning. Don’t jump to conclusions and assume its Google’s goal to rid the use of affiliate marketers, since they do thrive on Google. It appears that Google is targeting a very narrow caterogory of those advertisers, not all affiliate marketers. There is evidence to back up that statement.

To be more specific, all the advertisers who were banned had one thing in common. They either promoted or were suspected of promoting an opportunity product or “bizz-opp.” Using Google’s name in the search engine is not cool and is obviously an attempt to take advantage by using it as a keyword, building on the stronghold of the name.

Affiliate Marketers who have been accused of this swear their material has nothing to do with the brand name. Even so, if there is any inpropriety suspected, it is offensive to Google and will lead to banishment. It is too easy to lead to lawsuits and attorney filings to protect the Google brand name.

Innocent bystanders have been caught in the ban as well, which is unfortunate. The far reaching search for those who cheat the system goes on, although Google still accepts payments from some affiliate marketers outside the industry of business opportunity. They tack on “reviews” as a way to be more cautious.

Remember that affiliates were once publishers, because they had already published volumes of content on a particular topic. It even looks like Google is creating its own Affiliate Network, since they are selling their space to affiliate marketers and add the word “review” after it. They are always looking for new advertisers, especially those who have mountains of topic on their own websites.

So it may be a little premature to announce the end of Affiliate Marketing on Google as we know it, just because a small margin of marketers are no longer allowed to use Adwords in promoting their business. The truth is, Google is mindful of the those marketers who tend to generalize and through other affiliates into the same catergory as those who want to promote shoddy products and price gouging programs.
