How Backlinks bring visitors to your web pages
The quantity of backlinks
Just about all of the search engines take into account the amount of backlinks to a web page when deciding where this page should be displayed in the search results.
The origin of the backlinks
The source of a backlink can pass authority and indeed searchers to the page to which it points. So it follows that pages with backlinks from authoritative pages will receive a much higher value consideration from the search engines. Obvious examples of trusted sources of backlinks carrying higher authority are pages in education (.edu) and government (.gov) web sites..
Google Page Rank
Backlinks from web pages with high page rank (a value awarded by Google to any page that it has observed over a period to have attracted, sustained and continued to accumulate relevant backlinks) pass some of their page rank via the backlink to the target page.
The ‘anchor text’
When you see a backlink on a web page it often has a label a word or text associated with the content at the page to which this backlink is pointing, what this ‘anchor text’ says has influence upon the value the search engines attribute to the link. If the content of the page is about ‘parenting’ and the backlink on the page is labeled or given the ‘anchor’ text ‘parenting’ then the search engines consider this to be of more value to the searcher looking for sites related to ‘parenting’ than if the backlink was labeled ‘babycare’.
Common issues
It’s not unusual for first timers to confuse the quantity with the quality of backlinks and become quickly perplexed by their lack of progress For instance if all of your backlinks to your ‘parenting’ page come from sites not related to ‘parenting’ then whilst you have backlinks they will almost certainly bring you the wrong traffic.
How to manufacture backlinks
So here is my tried and tested advice for getting backlinks to your pages, high rankings in the search engine results pages and the right type of traffic to your site.
- It is critical you select the right keywords before you expend any effort whatsoever.
- I like to create a keyword ‘cloud’.
- You should always start by identifying a key word or phrase which has a high volume of traffic.
- To find out the volume of visitor traffic is being generated by searches for my primary keyword I use the Google keyword analyzer tool.
- The Google tool generates a list of keywords connected to my main keyword and from this list I create my cloud.
- I then create content in the form of articles and videos in which I have embedded backlinks with the right ‘anchor text’ to my ‘money’ or ‘target’ page and distribute these to the various directories.
- My golden rule is to write content that will attract traffic and compel them to follow the backlinks to my target pages as well as send backlinks.

If you don't change what you are doing today, all your tomorrows will look like yesterdays!

Hi, Evan Beck here from the forum and checking out your blog. I notice you don’t date your posts.
I have considered turning this feature off and was wondering what your thoughts are on this.
Thanks
Funny, lately I’ve heard several people mention backlinks and how the search engines love them. I’m going to sign up for your course and hope that I’m one of the first ones to get in so I can get it for free. My blog certainly can use all the help it can get. I’m not getting much traffic lately. Of course, I haven’t been keeping it updated like I should either.
In fact, you can help me out by visiting my blog and leaving a comment on my latest post. You see, Rob Canyon is giving away a great prize if I get at least 7 comments on my latest post. He’s also giving us all the opportunity to become affiliates and get paid for people to sign up for it. You might be interested in that. But you have to do this by 11:00 P.M. EST Sat., Nov. 21.
Thanks so much for your help, and I’ll be in touch to get the backlinks course.
Dawn
Hi Geoffrey,
I like the subject of your post. I agree that it’s very important to try to get the right links as opposed to getting tons of any links.
The anchor text is extremely important.
I’m not sure though how you’d get .edu and . gov links.
As for links from directories I’ve heard that one has to be very careful in choosing which directories to submit to.
Apparently not all of them are of high quality. Also, I hear that Google doesn’t give directories the same weight it once did.

Sorry for my english I’m very angry – Normally I find blogs through the comments that other bloggers leaves on those blogs and so it adds to it just to show different styles and ideas. I have chosen this particular website because It provides help for people to make them feel confident on the web, to know they are welcome to join the conversation and give their opinions. It’s important that they know how the structure of blogs workout.
Hi Vance. Better late than never eh mate? However, thanks for you comment on my blog. First off, I always take Google out of the equation. I hate their policies and I don’t like the way they handle their loyal Affiliates!
Back links buddy. In October 2009 I took part in a ten week CPA Elite Underground Marketing course given by none other than Saj P. and Phil Mansour. The first method we were taught was free traffic with Web 2.0, building link wheels and back links to our Hub Sites. (Money Sites) To simplify the stuff with back links we used a tool called “Fast Blog Finder”. Check it out mate: http://www.fastblogfinder.com/order/ This tool is a must in your affiliate toolbox. Yep, cost $99 but brother does it save you time and make you money. (I just dug the link out for you over Google). This is not an affiliate link! I don’t make money on my blog visitors unless they ask me for something specific. Have a look at it Vance and let me know what you think buddy.
Basically this tool finds you all the blogs in your niche with do-follow links, high page rank and loads more.
